Anime Kingdom, presents Anime North

It is an event that has already passed this year when anime fans (like myself) get dressed up (a.k.a cosplay) as their favourite character's and can participate in different anime themed events. There are various events and lots of shopping (yay!), and so much more that it would take hours on end for me to explain it all to you. Bottom line is you must try going to this. Even if you are not an anime fan it is a great experience that doesn't come around often and I garantee you will have fun.

There are better ones on youtube, so you can try looking them up. This girl did a home styled video, it's not the greatest but try to ignore her and look at the actual costumes and stuff.

Course Reflection

This course was difficult but worthwhile. I personally struggle with handing things in on time so having deadlines helped me to finish my stories faster.

I also loved the experience of writing for more than one type of genre. I usually stick to fantasy, and romance but it was really cool to try writting mysteries and horrors.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

What I was hoping for in this class was a little more leeway for creativity. For example I was hoping to compare manga to books for my summative. It would have been cool if our summative could have involved anything to do with literature rather than just based on assignments we did in class.

Some imporovements I would reccommend for this course is more time to do assignments. I know I do struggle with deadlines but also in order to write well a lot of time and effort needs to be spent on writing. By allowing students more time there stories will be better written and thought out.

Fantasy Story: Plot and Conflict

Plot:
Dragua Domain was a peaceful nation until two months ago. A group of radicals who call themselves the Great Terror Tamers, wanted to realise the dragons and creatures of the underworld sealed by the former leader the White Dragon. They were partly successful. They managed to free the dragons and creatures from the underworld but they also triggered the emergency protection spell from the white diamond of nature (which contains the White Dragon's soul). This emergency trigger transformed the dragons and creatures of the underworld into dark pearls and launched them all throughout Dragua Domain. These pearl's can be transformed back into dark creatures if the song of The White Dragon is played. Authority's have not been able to catch all the members of the Great Terror Tamers, and the groups members identities are unknown. The rulers of the five kingdom's came up with a plan to help control this disastrous outcome. They planned to collect each pearl before members of the Great Terror Tamers could find them, and re-seal them at Drite Kingdom. They were going to hold a competition for elite warriors to go on this mission for the black pearls. According to legend the White Dragon had to use not one but many of it's elements to defeat these creatures and dragons of the underworld. So the leader's decided to hold a competition in each kingdom for the greatest Dragon Tamer of that element. The winner of each of these competitions would join the Elements Elite Circle, and go in search of the black pearls to help re-seal them. Their duty would also be to eliminate and members of the Great Terror Tamers.

This is where the story begins with Amethyst Blaze, or Ame for short. She is from the Fire Kingdom and is seeking to become apart of the Elements Elite Circle. She is already in school training to become a great dragon tamer and sees this as an opportunity to win the title of being the greatest dragon tamer ever and scpring riches beyond her wildest dreams. With her fiery dragon Flares, there's no way she can lose. Except of course until Knight, night and his dragon Magma shows up. He is also determined for the spot in the Elements Elite Circle and refuses to lose to Ame. Who will win this competition? And will the Elements Elite Circle be enough to stop the Great Terror Tamers?

Conflicts:
* Between the Great Terror Tamer's and Elements Elite Circle who're both after the pearls.
* Between Ame and Knight in the competition and outside of it.
* Between the Kingdom's who judge one another
* Between power and what is right

 Reasoning behind Great Terror Tamer's:

Why would they want to do this? Well from the legend of Dragua Domain (the background in settings), states that the dragons and creatures of the underworld had immense powers but could not control them. Members of this group believe that power of that great multitude should not be thrown away, but be controlled and used by people. Great dragon tamers believe they have the ability to train these dragons too, and so with the authorities from all five Kingdom's going against them they set up a plan to free the dragons and creatures of the underworld, which succeeded. Now they are after the black pearls just like the Elements Elite Circle.

Fantasy Story: Setting

Realm:
Dragua Domain
Background Story: The legends tell of our land being ruled by creatures and dragons of the underworld. They had tremendous power, so extensive that the dragons and creatures struggled to control it themselves. It caused them to go mad. So they would go on rampages killing every other living being. The lands were almost destroyed until a large white dragon entered the land challenging the dark dragons and creatures of the underworld. This dragon obtained the powers of fire, water, earth, metal, and storm. With these powers combined the dragon defeated the dark beings. The White Dragon sealed them in the depths of the earth at the centre of Dragua Domain where it reigned as King. It created 5 Kingdoms. These 5 kingdoms had dragons that specialized in one of his five elements. The White dragon ruled over Dragua Domain for a millennia until he finally passed away. But his soul still remains-in the white diamond of nature- at the centre of Dragua Domain (know known as Drite Kingdom), making sure that the dragons and creatures of the underworld never rise up to terrorize the lands again.

Water Kingdom
Ruler: Lord Trident
Brief Description:
A long strip of land all along Lake Rilia. This kingdom has non-stop sunshine and good times to offer all of it's citizens and their dragons. There is a huge variety of exotic food to choose from, and it holds the most events and festivals out of all the Kingdoms. There is every type of fish you can think of and water sports and activities are practised all throughout every season. Their are an abundance of water dragons that live there. They not only help protect the city but can be tamed as well. The economy is booming and many people find it easy to make a living and settle down with large families.

Fire Kingdom
Ruler: Magsumas the Great
Brief Description:
It is far beyond the lake and forest. It is situated in the dessert close to Mount Flare. Living conditions are hard since the sun is constantly beating on the city but the nights are cool and breezy. The main attraction in this city is the powerful army made up of fire type dragons. Though these beasts are hard to tame they are great assets to the protection not only of the city, but to all of Dragua Domain. Extravagant balls are held during the weekend nights, and the bazaars and shopping districts are always busy.

Earth Kingdom:
Ruler:  Empress Natura
Brief Description:
This Kingdom is situated in the middle of Econirement Forest, neighbouring the water kingdom. The jungle life can be frightening because of the many predators but the beautiful trees and scenes of nature are enough to make up for it. Every animal in Dragua Kingdom is located in the Earth Kingdom, and earth dragons are docile and kind to every citizen. There are plenty of hiking trails and enough water falls from the leaves outside the Kingdom to fill up two Lake Rilia's. Although it rains often the trees situated in the forest are so large and broad that it usually covers the entire Kingdom. Tree climbing is also a national sport in the Earth Kingdom.

Metal Kingdom:
Ruler: King Steel
Brief Description:
If you can name any cave in Dragua Domain it would be right next to the Metal Kingdom. Metal Dragons help mine and excavate jewels and ancient fossils galore. The city streets are paved in gems and every house in the kingdom has a crystal toilet. All our modern warfare is built and produced in the Metal Kingdom, and they have new job positioning's opening everyday. Most of the old relics of the White Dragon are still standing and make great tourist attractions.

Storm Kingdom:
Ruler: The Supernatural Wonder
Brief Description:
This Kingdom is situated in between bits of Econirement Forest, Lake Rilia, and caves of the Metal Kingdom. It has every type of weather climate you can possibly imagine. Storm dragons have powerful abilities that help control these climates and by taming one you will have the power to do this as well. Different events are scattered throughout the year because of the different weather changes. But because of their mixes of land they have the largest crop growing industry in all of Dragua Domain. Though the Kingdom is small it has abundant resources and many similar activities to the Metal, Earth, and Water Kingdom.

Patchwork Poem

If you say in a poem " grass is green"
Would you guess from their broad greeting
That the blood of my ancestors
                   Spew onto streets and platforms
Bent double, like old beggars under sacks,
O guns, fall silent till the dead men hear
They'd toddle safely home and die-in bed.

Free Rice Poetry

Munch, Munch, Munch
The object I am holding is caseous,
I know from it's hard core basis,
I see other's who will cadge,
Who do not own it, like sister Madge,
But after awhile it grows vair,
And to me it doesn't seem very fair,
Although I am a bit torpid,
I find it almost morbid,
How one with a large hunch
Can manage to steal my lunch.

(Words from FreeRice.com- caseous (cheese-like), cadge (beg), vair (squirrel fur), and torpid (sluggish)

Pokemon Poetry

Who's that Pokemon, with Haikou Poems! Guess the right one.

Deep in a forest, red eyes stare
    a little green monster
        appears here

On a lake side pond
    A gator dances on
       thinking he owns the world

Flamey little birdy thing
   sitting in a tree
      chirps a little spark

Short Story Character Paragraph

Kathy here!

I decided the best way to keep in touch with everyone was to make a blog! Robyn thinks it's stupid but her opinions don't count for much.

It amazes me how Tai continually manages to put his foot in his mouth when Sora is near. He will be complaining about the laundry or dishes and Sora will walk in and give him a talking too. Though they aren't my real parents I feel comfortable around them. They're the first step parents who have put up with me for so long.

It also rocks that they are both soccer pros. Since I'm on the regional soccer team they are always practising with me. Tai puts me through the hard drills, while Sora shows me various shooting and passing techniques/plays. Since Robyn is on the regional team as well, Uncle Davis and her usually join our practices.

Uncle Davis claims that he was a star soccer player when he was our age. It's hard for me to believe considering how he always misses the net when trying to score a goal. Robyn obviously did not inherit his soccer abilities. As a team we are unbeatable. Speaking of soccer I'm late for practice! Gotta run I'll keep you posted for more later when I move! Bye everyone !

Mom's Tribute

A Thank you Letter:

For the woman who can put up with me the most, thank you for touching every aspect of my life and making me the generally sane person I am today. Though I am not always the best behaved child you continually love me and show correction when necessary. When I'm in a bad mood and say things I don't mean you're always willing to accept my apologies and give me hugs after. Even though my interests don't always match or suite your own you don't push me away from them and never disapprove of me. Being pushed to the limit is hard to manage, but because you're by my side I'm always less damaged. So thank you again, and all the other mom's out there too, who treat there children with great love and care!

Mother's : Ash Ketchum's (Pokemon), Kagome's (Inuyasha), Tohru's (Fuits Basket), Daisuke's (D.N.Angel)

Otaku Games :D

If you're a true otaku (like myself) you must have been introduced into one role playing game once in your life. These things are so addicting and they can control your life!

Thankfully most are only in japanese, (romance wise) but there are a couple of english versions out there. One good one I recommend is Alistair (look it up on google and download it it's great but short.)

-Anime Kingdom (Yuki Fukishima)

55 Word Story (anime kingdoms style :)

School's busy, but all I could think about was Kai.

I've been avoiding him lately, realizing I liked him.
He confronted me in the hallways.

After gazing into his eyes, I confessed my feelings.

He held my hands, "I love you."

Happiness overwhelmed me until I found myself staring at a screen holding a controller.

A Spark of Passion

When I look back now I realize how much anime affected me as a child. Not only did I play those epic make-belief games playing as a pikachu, I also incorporated it into my very person.

Watching Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Digimon, and Beyblade formed my personality and taught me valuable qualities that I cherish in life. When I was watching those shows as a kid I just thought
"wow this is cool" and watched it.

When I got older (17) I decided to buy and rewatch the fantastical tales that I fervently dedicated myself to as a child.
(pokemon, first season, 88 episodes...be jelous)

While rewatching these glorious tales things a lot of things came to mind. First the passion, commitment, and never-give-up attitude that then transferred onto the younger me. The affects were first seen at the pool where the younger me started climbing up the high diving board. She was tempted twice to just walk back down, but no! She was not gouing to back down, and she would not let this pool defeat her. So she jumped in at 3 years old causing her parents watching on the sidelines to have a heart attack.

Next the symptoms were noticed during my basketball game. The first season Beyblade song was blarring in my mind as I ran up and down those courts. I thought of Tyson and Kai and their intensity as they were Bey-battling, it transfered to me letting my agression and ball stealing powers spring forth. My compassion for friends and family brought out by Ash Ketchum's love for his pokemon. The way I never backed down from a challenge from a boy in my class just as Ash, Tyson, Tai or Joey wouldn't ever.

These shonens, cartoon, anime's whatever you want to call them taught me values that I want to hold onto even in my life today. Tai's Courage, Ash's compassion, Ray's forgiveness (and tiger like reflexes! Hiyah!) are all things I hold in my heart and I will pass it down to future generations!

(The originals! Not this 5, and 6th generation crap! Why make all these new things anyway... But thats a rant for another day xD )

Forgiveness... ITS EVERYWHERE!

(Mr. Heneke Read THIS !)

In almost every (good) anime there is always one point in time where one of the characters develops through some form of forgiveness. Don't believe me? Well here is your prooof.

Kaze No Stigma
There are various forms of forgiveness. I'll focus on the more recurring patterns of forgiveness shown in anime. One major factor is the agonization, anger, and depression of a character who has not recieved forgiveness or who has chosen not to forgive. In the anime Kaze No Stigma, the main character Kazuma suffers from the guilt of not being forgiven by his first love Tsui Ling. He blames himself for her death and feels uncomfortable by the mention of her name. In the last episode (24 protectors of the wind), She reveals that her last memory before she died was that she had wanted Kazuma dead. This is of course devastating to Kazuma who loved (s) her so much. This shows his suffering by not being forgiven by the one he loved (s) most.He also suffers in his life by not being able to forgive his father. (I mean his father did cast him out of the family at a young age just cuz he didn't have fire powers.. but still). Because of Kazuma's unforgiving attitude there is pressure and tension between his father and him everytime they meet. They usually end up in a brawl where they are trying to take the other's life. I don't know about you but I don't think it would be easy to brawl to the death with my Dad every single time I see him. The anime is completed and there are rumours about a second season floating around, but one thing is for certain. Kazuma (whether it be in the second season, light novels, or manga) will evenually have to deal with the unforgiveness between his lost love, and his father's betrayal.

Suou Tamaki (Ouran HighSchool Host Club)
Another form of forgiveness repeated in most (again good) anime's is the choice of forgiveness over revenge. In Ouran HighSchool Host Club, Tamaki goes through this decision with his Grandmother. First off you should get that Tamaki's Grandmother is a bitch. There is no other way to describe her. She seperated him from his mother in France and brought him to Japan, not allowing him to even visit her. She refers to him as a "fiflthy child" and will not give him the time of day. This can also be seen in the anime where he greets her and she walks right by him as if he were a ghost. Now in the manga she allows him to live in the villa with her but forces him to cut off his ties with the host club (meaning all his friends). This leaves him in the villa all alone. Though his Grandmother is constantly cruel to him he is always kind-hearted toward her. At one point she falls into a deep depression and Tamaki (the kind boy that he is) helps cheer her up by playing the piano for her. His actions differ from his Father's who was bitter and resentful towards his mother who made him leave his love in france (Tamaki's mother). He creates a plan and manages to overthrow her as manager of the company. Tamake's forgiveness of his Grandmother's harsh treatment brings peace and friendship between them. Tamaki's Father's vengeful attitude seperates him farther from his mother and therefore seperates the entire family. It is clear that forgiveness plays a huge role in people's actions and decisions, including in this anime. But don't worry everything gets cleared up in the end! Tamaki manages to help them forgive eachother and they all become one big happy family!

Fruits Basket
One type of forgiveness that we all struggle with at some point or another is being able to forgive ourselves. It's no different in the animated world esoecially with Kyo Sohma. He is from the anime Fruit's Basket and has (no offense intended) some major issues. He blames himself for his mothers death. Of course this blame gets inhanced by all his family members. He is the cat in the zodiac (the family curse that turns most family members into animals when hugged by opposite gender), and let's just say the cat always gets the bad rap. The story behind his mother's death was that she was so stressed about having him as a son (since he is the cat, the outcast of the family) she committed suicide. His first reaction of dealing with his anguish is to blame someone else and push the responsinility off. As a child he constantly repeats that his mother's death was not his fault knowing inside that he (being the cat) did play a part in it. The two characters that help Kyo deal with this, (and other issues) are Tohru Honda (the girl in the picture), and his (sort of) Stepfather Kazuma Sohma. They help bring him out of his inner shell and he eventually learns how to forgive himself . Oh and *SPOILER ALERT* Tohru and him end up together : )

There are of course way more examples and different scenarios that can be used but these are the simplest one's that came to mind. Forgiveness, relates to everyday life because as humans we grow stronger once learning how to apply it in our personal lives. I know with me, the quicker I learn how to forgive someone, the less stressed, angry, and emotionally drained I am at the end of the day.

Anime Motivation!

Ever read an anime caption and giggle, then realize how big of a nerd you are for actually understanding it?

If you have ever experienced this go to the site below and enjoy inside jokes that only people who are addicted to anime can understand : - D

New Adventures

In the novel, the Glass Castle, Jeannette Wall's constantly moving around with her family. She goes from places like her grandmother's house which are "pristine white" to places like Battle Mountain which is ranked the worst town to live in. I envy the way she gets to travel around and experience all these different places. Yuki says it's almost like those typical anime's where the hero sets off on an adventure or gets transported to other worlds. Most of the time their families are not involved, but in Jeannette's case her parents are rarely supervising her so she is able to explore freely on her own. I would love to have that freedom and go exploring places like File Island in Digimon, or the Kanto region in Pokemon. Or maybe I could sail to different places like in one piece, or be transported into the Feudal Era like in Inuyasha. Whichever place I end up in I'd like to have new experiences like Jeannette did in the glass castle.

Anime Kingdom has been built!

In my daily life I am an ordinary teenager, doing ordinary things, and I like keeping it this way. The only problem that I have to deal with in order to keep being ordinary is my ..... INNER FANGIRL! When I get near anything asian or anime related I try to keep a straight face but my inner fangirl starts raging on within me. Let's say I see a picture of a japanese chibi character. I will say "that's cool" But my fangirl will begin tirading "KAWAIIII  Desu Desu Desu Desu!! ITS SOOOOOOOO ADORABLE!! I JUST WANT TO KIDNAP IT AND TAKE IT HOME! I WILL FAINT FROM IT'S EXTREME CUTENESS!"

So in order to satisfy my inner fangirl I secretly spend hours watching anime, reading manga, and anything asian related. It has become an important part in my life and my inner fangirl, let's call her Yuki Sora Fukushima, has demended to share her knowledge with the world. Thus Writ-ame was born, and Yuki Sora Fukushima has created Anime Kingdom!

Enjoy my rants, comments, and concerns. Also look for top popular anime and discussions related to all things ANIME!
